Chess in Kedah
Just found out that Kulim will have a chess tournament on 25th of August which is a WEEKEND!! Since I can only participate in weekend events of the month of August, I guess I should play in this UniKL Open! 
Anyone interested to go to the tournament with me?!

August the Chess Month
August, for most Malaysian chess players is a busy month as we have loads of tournaments as GilaChess name it August - Memang Gila Chess Month! over his blog.
For me, however, this month will not be too busy for me…

July was a month of a mixture of tournament performance for me. Day 1 of Penang Closed Chess Tournament wasn’t 100% satisfactory, then a terrible performance at CRC Taiping Tournament and finally a more “OK” performance at day 2 of Penang Closed…

Anti-Meran Gambit
First half of the Penang Closed Chess Tournament saw some higher seeded players being upset by their opponent in round 1,2 and 3. Among them were Khai Boon, Kian Meng, Gavin and me. 
The boy that beats me. 
Despite the negative final score, the game, a Botvinnik Semi Slav also known as Anti-Meran Gambit of Semi Slav Defence was very interesting.

Bad News
Just got a bad news. My boss is going off for whole month of August for holidays. This means I will not be able to take time off!!! Too bad as I was initially aiming to go for Malaysia Open this year… 
Hopefully I can still take time off…

So after 5 days of hard fought, National Closed 2007 finally came to an end and I am going off for a 4 days holidays starting tomorrow.
