Chess Improvement

Post July 2007

July was a month of a mixture of tournament performance for me. Day 1 of Penang Closed Chess Tournament wasn’t 100% satisfactory, then a terrible performance at CRC Taiping Tournament and finally a more “OK” performance at day 2 of Penang Closed…

Day 1 of Penang Closed Chess Tournament was quite interesting since I lost an interesting Anti-Meran Gambit to Evan Timothy. :P

CRC Taiping event was sort of an adventure for me as I played as an unrated player for the event and hence got float around in terms of pairing and end up meeting all Perak International Chess Associations (PICA) rated players. I blundered terribly at round 3 and round 6 and was lucky to win round 5 when my opponent blundered in a seemingly drawn endgame.

I was then played better at Day 2 of Penang Closed Chess Tournament and was able to beat 2 strong players and conclude the event by escaping narrowly in the final round.

Seems like there are a lot of holes in my opening play this month.

Finally, considering the fact that I almost never post any picture of myself, here is one.
